About Me

I am a clinical psychologist with over 20 years’ experience, a hypnosis practitioner, competitive bodybuilder, and solo mum to three girls.

My life is certainly full! And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Although each part of my life is separate, they also contribute to and enhance one another. I have been a clinical psychologist for over 20 years. It is the only career I have ever had, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Over the years, I have worked across a range of settings, including pain management, rehabilitation and public mental health, before running my own private psychology practice for over 17 years. I now work as a senior clinician in organisational wellbeing, supporting people in demanding roles and delivering psychological education.

My work in bodybuilding developed after I became a competitor myself. Experiencing the sport firsthand gave me an understanding of the mental demands of bodybuilding that I could never have gained from my professional training alone. I began bringing that lived experience together with my clinical knowledge and experience to work with and educate bodybuilding competitors.

Today, my work in this space extends across the entire competitive journey, from deciding whether to compete and preparing for prep, through the mental demands of contest prep, to navigating body image, food, identity, self-worth and the transition back to everyday life after the stage.

I understand how rewarding bodybuilding can be, and I also understand some of the challenges that can come with pursuing a goal so intensely. You can love the sport and still find parts of it difficult. You can be incredibly committed to your goals while also protecting the other parts of yourself and your life that are important to you.

My aim is to help competitors better understand the mental side of the sport, develop practical psychological skills, and build a healthier and more sustainable relationship with themselves and bodybuilding, through prep, post-show and everything in between.
